26 Jan Commitment – Rehearsal Room! – January 2015 – Part 4: Finished Product (Weeks 3 & 4)
Life App: Commitment – making a plan and putting it into practice.
Theme: Rehearsal Room!
Date: January, 2015
That’s a Wrap!
The Life App of Commitment is complete and it was a terrific month! As discussed in this post, we changed our stage each week to reflect the genre represented in the host’s opener. You can find Week 1’s stage here and Week 2’s stage here. Below, you will see our set for Week’s 3 and 4.
*NOTE – In this post, I talked about using reflective paper to create mirrors for Weeks 3 and 4. The paper did not work. It looked like I had hung silver wrapping paper on the backdrop. So, I went to Target and purchased 5 door mirrors for $5.99 each. I hung them with 3M Velcro Strips and they stayed in place for two weeks. They worked well and added a lot to the environment. The Rehearsal Room turned out to be a great place to learn about Commitment!
Week 3 – Dance
This was my favorite week of the month. That is because I am partial to dance. Back in the day (a long, long time ago) I studied classical ballet pretty seriously. Yep- I’m the girl on the far left in this photo.
I quit dancing after college, but I have a love for this discipline even today. In the photo gallery below much of the decor is mine. The pointe shoes on the backdrop, the photos of ballerinas on the left side of the mirrors and the pink ballet bag were all my as a child/young adult. The photos of the ballerinas hung on the walls of my room growing up and then on the walls of my college dorm room. The pointe shoes sat on a bookshelf in my first apartment, and the bag – well, it got packed away with the rest of my memorabilia. It was fun to pull all of these treasures out of my memory box and add them to the set for Week 3.
I tried to include other dance disciplines on this week’s set (jazz, tap, and hip hop complete with sneakers and posters) in an attempt to relate and connect to the older boys in our environment.
Week 4 – Gym/Exercise
This set change for this week was quite easy. The mirrors from the dance studio stayed in place and I just put exercise posters on top of the hip hop posters. I brought some of the exercise equipment I had from home and borrowed some heavy weights/barbells as well. We put some yoga mats on the floor and our dance studio was quickly transformed into a gym.
I hope you had a great start to 2015 and your work with the Life App of Commitment was a huge win. If you have not already shared photos of your Rehearsal Room environments, please consider sharing them with the ReadySetSunday community.
