We are having a blast with Undercover Kindness this month!

Extra Fun!

IMG_2482One of my favorite aspects of this month’s environment is the process we have for our host as he enters and exits the stage at the beginning and end of large group. Before stepping on stage, the host must “disable the security system” that is protecting the large group space. As the host places his hand on the scanner (an iPad with an image of a hand) the two TV’s on stage, show the system going through a profile search until the host’s photo shows up and it says he has been identified.

IMG_2480The “laser beam lights” turn off at that time and the host can step on stage and begin large group. At the end of group, the host reverses the process – “re-securing the perimeter.”

IMG_2471Like other months, the three screens above our stage show the Theme, Life App, Memory Verse, and Bottom Line graphics. These are displayed through projectors that our hooked to our main computer and set up in Pro Presenter. This month, we used a second computer at the tech desk and ran a cable from this computer, around the perimeter of our large group environment, to the TV’s on the stage. The computer attached to the TV’s uses a power point presentation to show the video of the host’s profile. After the host is identified, the power point cycles through the rest of our leader’s profiles for the reminder of large group. We had to adjust our tech team schedule so that we would have 2 tech team members each week. Our team pulled together to make it happen and it’s been fun for them to have a partner at the tech desk, since there are so many extra aspects of the production each week. When we thank the tech team during Week 3’s large group opener – it will be extra meaningful!

Different Graphics

BottomLine3As mentioned in this post, when we decided to go with more of a “CSI look” for our stage this month, we decided to change the theme graphics. Nick Blevins designed them for us and I love the way they turned out. They really help unite the stage, the focal wall, the theme, and the projected images – creating a consistent look throughout the entire environment.

Amazing Volunteers!

IMG_2474Our small group leaders are truly amazing… every single one of them! But one of our leader’s goes above and beyond each month as she prepares extra resources for her group that go along with the theme.

IMG_2472This month was no exception as she came in dressed as an undercover agent, brought a sign to identify her group as the Kindergarten Unit, and created a laser beam security system from yarn and hula hoops that the kids had to go through to get into small group! I am so grateful to work with leaders that pour themselves into the kids in our environment. They help make church a place where children are waking up their parents to make sure they get there on Sunday mornings!

We’re having a great month so far. How about you? How is Undercover Kindness going for you? Let us see what you have going on by sharing your photos and stories!

And don’t forget to check back next week for the opportunity to collaborate about March’s environment!
